Hello!!

My name is Ksenia and I am from the capital of Russia, from Moscow!

Last August I came to Bellerbys Brighton for an English preparation course.  It was great!  When I came to the UK it was extremely difficult for me even to understand English and I was absolutely terrified to open my mouth and start saying something.  But I quickly made some new friends from different countries and even did not realise that I started talking!  Of course it was summer and most of the time we were having fun, but our teachers were very patient and tried to put a bit of knowledge in our empty heads.

In September I started my GCSE course and met some more fantastic people that I can be proud to call my friends now.  Surprisingly my level of English was enough to study because my teachers always explained everything very carefully and were making lessons interesting, sometimes they were even more enthusiastic that we were!  I am very grateful to all members of staff who helped and supported me during this year.

And now am an AS student (it means that I haven’t failed my GCSE exams!! Hurrah!!), I am studying Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics and French.  Why French?  Just because I was studying it for 8 years in my Russian school and did not want to forget it.

I really enjoy science subjects, that is what I want to do in future (to be exact my dream is a degree in biochemistry) but I think that my teachers may not be always happy to have me in their class, as I always ask too many questions “Why?” and sometimes quite stupid ones… Sorry for that, it is a part of my nature!

I live in a host family, in a very special one!  My host mum is lovely, the room is big (I even have two beds!) and my neighbour is a Ukrainian girl Natasha who is my friend.  What can be better?  And I really like to walk to college especially in the morning when I still can’t wake up. I enjoy my life in a lot.  It’s a very nice place especially when it is not raining and windy. Watching the sea always makes me happy!  There are some nice shops, restaurants and museums as well, not to mention our famous Royal Pavilion.

Last year I got quite used to the old building of our college, but to tell the truth it was quite old and not big enough…  But now all the problems are solved and we always have some free space in the library (the best indicator!)  The new Study Centre is full with technology, even to open the door you need to have your ID card (Big brother is watching you!! Scared?  Please don’t be, it was just a joke) and there are plenty of computers in the classrooms!  But of course the best things about the college are not technologies but people.  Here I made friends from all around the world: Chinese, Taiwanese, Kazaks, Ukrainians, Indonesians, Bulgarians, Romanians, Moldavians and some many others the list will be too long to mention (and i do not want to make you bored!).  I met some great people from my home country as well!

Now I believe I need to tell something about my hobbies…Nothing very exciting there – I like reading all sorts of books, listening to music, go to cinema (but no horror films, please!), travelling (thanks to my parents I had an opportunity to visit a lot of places, this summer we were in Indonesia!), shopping (what do you want? I am a girl!), art (Impressionists are my favourites), cats (I have a grey-lazy-fat-absolutely gorgeous one that lives in our flat in Russia and just going out and doing nothing with my great friends.

Anyway, that is enough about me just for now! Hope you will find my blog interesting! (and do not be too strict!!)
